Describe the main purpose / aim of your activity / project. What were its side effects or secondary results? | The goal of the event is to familiarize elementary school students with the goals of the SDGs, their content, meaning and possibilities for putting these goals into practice. The output is an understanding of the importance of the individual goals of the SDGs and their translation into local conditions. We also consider it important that students think about their personal approach to achieving these goals. Course: The event is intended for pupils of the 8th grade of elementary school. We have 8 stations prepared, where students can learn information about the sub-goals of sustainable development of the SDGs in relation to the Czech Republic, or Chrudim (the focus of the station corresponded to the selected SDG goal). Each station has a limited time - approx. 20 minutes, which will take place in the form of a workshop at 3 minutes, an explanation of the given topic from the point of view of the global situation, then in relation to the Czech Republic, and finally how the city of Chrudim fulfills the topic in its activities or projects. The workshop is set up in such a way that the pupils do not just passively receive information, but are also active during this part - interactive maps, puzzles, pictures, quizzes, etc. The workshops are provided by partner organizations of the Healthy City. Final questions on the given topic are prepared by the partner (NGO, entrepreneur, etc.). The maximum number of participants set for 2022 for each school was approx. 30 pupils (i.e. 4 teams of 7-8 pupils each). Each team could have a maximum of 8 people, the team chose its name in advance. At the stations, the evaluation also took into account how the team communicates with each other, cooperates, adheres to the time schedule at the stations, whether they have divided roles in the team, etc. Scoring: At each station, 5 scored questions were asked (the scoring system is 0 to 2 (0 = I DON'T KNOW 1 = PARTIAL ANSWER, 2 = CORRECT ANSWER). You also need to prepare for the variant of equal points. Here we have prepared a shootout, where the task is also tied to the goals of the SDGs.We used the publications offered by the UN Information Center in Prague. Action evaluation - evaluation: for this part, we prepared an evaluation board where individual teams placed their answers in "bubbles". Pupils wrote answers to the questions in pre-prepared bubbles (given before the event): • What problems do you perceive to be associated with the developing world? This evaluation took place at the beginning, but also at the end, after completing the individual workshops. Together, they also prepared an answer to a personal question - HOW CAN I CONTRIBUTE TO CHANGE IN THE AREA OF GLOBAL RESPONSIBILITY? For this evaluation, 3 colors of bubbles were prepared, in which answers were entered. Each competing team received small prizes and a commemorative certificate. The winning team from each school won a prize (a voucher for a Real Gift worth CZK 1,000). At the end, the team chose together what kind of gift will be sent through People in Need. These certificates were given to the teams after the completion and evaluation of the entire block (i.e. after completing all 8 stations). Much of the information that the pupils acquire here can be connected or applied in several subjects within the framework of regular teaching at elementary school (civic education, man and his world, man and society, etc.) |

Recommendations and inspiration |

What recommendations / advice can be deduced from the implementation of your activities and provided to other municipalities with a similar intention? | It is a not very demanding event, but one that is of great importance. We used partner organizations - NGOs, secondary schools, entrepreneurs - to ensure the expertise of interpretation for the staffing of individual workshops - SDGs goals. The event is also very positively evaluated by primary schools. We are running the event for the fifth year. In the time of covid, we were forced to revise the methodology, but we found that the event with a smaller number of pupils is more effective (they have more time at the stations, everyone in the team is involved). |

Describe the main strengths of your activity / project during its realization? | Pupils will learn information about the sub-goals of sustainable development of the SDGs in an interactive form, also in relation to the Czech Republic, or Chrudim (the focus of the sites corresponded to the chosen SDG Goal), the event also supports teamwork and mutual cooperation, healthy competition. |
Describe the main weaknesses of your activity / project during its realization? | Here it depends on the local conditions in the field of occupation of the workshops in relation to the SDGs. |
During the implementation of the activities / project, did you encounter an event that fundamentally affected the implementation? | Unfortunately the covid situation; but the methodology was adapted according to the applicable regulations and the event took place in smaller numbers, but it did not diminish its effect. |
Monitoring and evaluation |

Has the impact of the implemented activity / project been measured and evaluated in any way? | Evaluation in individual teams before and after the event. In the working group that prepares this event at the coordination meeting, an evaluation took place after the event as such, and the results were taken into account in the preparation of the following event. |

Additional notes | Preparation for the event started in January of each year. After consultation with the schools, the event is usually held at the end of May. During the covid period, it took place in an alternate period - September - October. |
