Čeho se podařilo v rámci Vašich aktivit/projektů dosáhnout? | Thanks to the concrete steps described below, we have seen progress in the understanding of social sustainability and the importance of specific activities that can help residents and local politicians pay more attention to social sustainability in the local community. |
---|---|
Describe the main purpose / aim of your activity / project. What were its side effects or secondary results? | SOSlokal is a Norwegian project whose main goal is to develop social sustainability as a core value and reference point for the development of local communities. With regard to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, Norway is trying to focus more on sustainable development as a comprehensive community goal in municipalities. At the same time, municipalities have so far placed too little emphasis on the dimension of social sustainability in community and territorial planning. In the field of research, social sustainability is still a new field. The basic questions the project tries to answer are: To answer these questions, the following was gradually implemented: |
Were the implemented activities documented? | Yes, we are attaching a description of the Place Standard tool testing results in Kristiansand. |
Start of activity: | 01.01.2021 |

Budget |
|
What were the financial costs of carrying out the activity? | [tis. EUR] 3500 EUR |
How was the activity funded? | Partly from the budget of the city of Kristiansand and partly from project funds of the Norwegian Research Council. |
Recommendations and inspiration |
|
What recommendations / advice can be deduced from the implementation of your activities and provided to other municipalities with a similar intention? | Recommend the use of the Place Standard tool to understand citizens' view of their place. It's easy to use and an excellent dialogue starter. It provides a good overview of citizens' experiences with their neighborhood - what they like and don't like. Both social and physical infrastructure. The civic laboratory was based on the world cafe methodology. The questions and discussion point were derived from points previously asked in focus groups based on the Place Standard tool. https://theworldcafe.com/key-concepts-resources/world-cafe-method/ https://www.ourplace.scot/tool |
Risk, obstacles and positive moments in the implementation process |
|
During the implementation of the activities / project, did you encounter an event that fundamentally affected the implementation? | Covid-19 interfered with the course of the interviews. Postponement of some interviews and compliance with hygiene recommendations. Recruiting the "silent voices" was a challenge. We recommend considering the timing aspect well in advance and preferably working with the local community coordinator. |
Monitoring and evaluation |
|
Has the impact of the implemented activity / project been measured and evaluated in any way? | Yes, all activities, focus group interviews and focus group discussions with citizens and politicians were documented with written notes and audio recordings for research purposes. Knowledge and experience are summarized in a short document. At the moment it is only available in Norwegian. |
